Chengde Resort

Chengde Summer Resort is situated north of Hebei Province's Chengde downtown, It is the largest imperial garden in China, 230 kilometers away from Beijing.The construction of Imperial Summer Resort was started in 1703; until the year 1792, its 124 groups of constructions had been finished, in which 72 scenic sites were named by the Emperor at that time. The whole construction area is about 100,000 square meters. The Resort can be divided into the palace zone, the lake zone, the mountain zone and the plain zone

Palace Zone

located in the southern part of the resort, consisting of former Palace, Pine & Crane House, East Palace and Million Valleys and Pines, four groups of structures. The palace zone has become the Royal Art Museum and the place for recovering historic legacy of the palace of the Qing Dynasty.

Lake Zone

Lying in the north of the palace area, In the middle of the lake zone are three islands, namely, Happy Island, Island for Enjoying the Water Songs under the Moonlight, and Green Surrounded Island. The zone is divided into several lakes including the Half-Moon Lake, Mirror Lake, Silver Lake and Inner Lake, around which are the main scenic areas. The Wenjin Loft was one of the seven famous libraries in the Qing Dynasty. The Island for Enjoying the Water Songs under the Moonlight was where the emperors enjoyed reading as well as moonlight and water songs.

Plain Zone

The plain zone is located on the north of the lake zone ,which mainly include Ten Thousand Trees Garden, Place of Trying Horses, Permanent Blessing Temple and Sheli Pagoda and other tourist sites. In the Qing Dynasty the Emperors usually held the head meeting in Ten Thousand Trees Garden, had dinner with fireworks, lights, music and dancing and singing.

Mountain Zone

It is located in the northwestern part of the Resort and covers an area of 4.22 million square meters. Emperor Kangxi and Qianlong had ordered to build more than 40 buildings, pavilions, temples, and houses that had small imperial paths and narrow winding tracks towards the hills. Here you can enjoy the mountain scenery completely, including undulating hills, flourishing woods, steep peaks, gurgling streams and white waterfalls. It is pleasantly cool here, a best place to spend the summer holidays. Architectures in this zone, adopting the styles both of the Southland and of North China, are of great artistic value.

Simatai Great Wall and Chengde Summer Resort(Two Days Trip)

• Entrance ticket at Simatai Great Wall is 40RMB; the double-way cable car is 50RMB
• Entrance ticket at Chengde Summer Resort is 120RMB in hot season ,100RMB In low season
• Pick-up from your accommodation around 09:00 am (earlier/later )
• About 2-2.5 hours drive to Simatai Great Wall (depending on traffic)
• 2 or more hours hiking on the wall ,after lunch if you prefer, then drive to Chengde City .It will take more than 2-2.5 hours .
• check-in your hotel in Chengde; free time at night.
• Pick you up at your hotel in Chengde at 9:00am next morning , drive to Summer Resort
• Visiting time 3--4 hours, then driving back to Beijing ,Drop off at your accommodation.
